Offices close, nationwide. The principal trade Unions march on Mexico City's main square (the Zocalo).
Cinco de Mayo—May 5th
A holiday celebrated in the colonial city of Puebla commemorating the Mexican defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla.
Mother's Day in Mexico—May 10th
Although this is not a holiday, many
local people take a half day off when they can to take their mother out and celebrate this event.
